Alfred
Music Publishing Co., Inc. has just published Osinchuk’s variations
on Happy Birthday, “Happy Birthday, Wolfgang.” Dr. Osinchuk originally composed this
piece to honor W. A. Mozart’s 250th birthday, and it was premiered
on January 26, 2006 in
Anchorage,
Alaska. Juliana has also recorded her
original version on her most recent solo CD
Keys to Recovery.
She
writes in her foreword: “ Inspired by the humorous piano
improvisations of Victor Borge, I chose pieces to arrange that would
be familiar to most audiences. Two of the themes I used are from
Mozart’s piano sonatas K. 545 and K. 331.I also used a chamber music piece, Eine kleine nachtmusik;
the second movement from his Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, K.
467 (used as the theme for the movie Elvira Madigan); and one of the
arias form his opera The Magic Flute.”The published version has been edited to be played by most late
intermediate and early advanced pianists. “Happy Birthday, Wolfgang”
is now available at all music stores and through
www.alfred.com (catalogue number 34421).
